You also take a state test for the x-rays.

Everything is hands on - because every office runs its own way and the DDS/DMD likes things his way.

It won't hurt to know your way around the office with any class.

I think the only true class is for EFDA - where the assistant does more (with fillings, cleanings etc).
Reply:DA dont make too much. They make about 12 bucks an hour. Anyway you do not need to go to school for it, but it helps. Try calling around local dentists and asking if they need any DA and if they train on the job. Some will hire people and train them with no experience needed. But if no one is interested you need to go to any community college or training school that offers DA.
Reply:NO I HAVE NOT GONE TO SCHOOL FOR THIS, BUT I DO HAVE FRIENDS THAT WORK AS A DENTAL ASSISTANT AND YES THEY DID HAVE TO GO TO SCHOOL FOR THIS. ANYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH WORKING ON PEOPLE BODIES OR MOUTH YOUR ALWAYS GOING TO HAVE TO DO SOME SCHOOL FOR.
