I know you need a degree/certificate to be a hygienist, and I used to think an assistant and hygienist were the same, but apparently they're not. So do I need anything besides in-office training to be an assistant?
Do I need a degree to be a dental assistant?
Check out the link I've given below for details. Essentially, a degree is not required although many dental assistants received their training at a 2-year college or a trade school. Depending on the state in whish they practice, they may be required to pass an exam in order to get licensed.
