Can someone survive off the lifestyle of a dental assistant?

I'd either be working on my bachelor's degree or will have it finished and I'm getting certification as a dental assistant. I want to enter dental school however right now I'm 18 and I already have 60 credits, and I'm tired of going at it constantly. I feel like I'm killing myself just to prove to my parents but I know deep down I can do whatever I set my mind to, and it doesn't have to be "super fast". Most kids my age just started college anyway. A yr extra to take credits at ease and just relax seems good to me now. I don't even know what I'd save by speeding everything up by a year. I mean I'll be doing this profession the rest of my life anyway.

Dental school isn't going anywhere!!!

I wish I had done some traveling, seen some new faces and so forth before "being in a family way" (I was only 19)

Once you get into the world of work, it's hard to get out. Why do I say that? Work means getting there reliably. That means a car, often payments. Work also means having the right clothes, equipment, continuing education (often at your own expense), etc. Dunno if you're still at home but work means frustration.. often leading to the NEED for your own space, just to deflate.

I'm not saying schmooze off your folks, or kill your dream, or whatever. But please (can I live vicariously a bit here?) take a little time to smell the roses along the way. I get a sniff here and there, but it's not like having the time to do it as I'd like to.

(I got wise, and I am working on having that time for myself again)

Good luck
