Does any one currently have a career as a dental assistant, or know someone who does? What is the pay like?

I am going into a dental assistant program here in Florence, SC and wonder the in's and out's of this profession. Can anyone offer me some help?

Dental assistant's jobs are fairly easy once you get the hang of everything. I wouldn't suggest this job for you if you don't like working with the public, because that will be your main job. You'll get the room ready for the patients, bring them back, and assist the dentist. You'll also develop x-rays, clean up the room, and do other duties that need done for the patient. Basically, you do everything so that the dentist can come in, talk to the patient, and do his procedure. Everything else will be up to you.

Reply:Hello My wife has been a dental assistant for several years. The pay varies by state of course but in MS 10-15 an hr. AZ 15-22hr
Reply:not much. dental asst's are like customer service reps of the dental field. they're a dime a dozen and qualification to be one can be gained fairly quickly.
